Good morning and happy Monday to the world! My name is Liz, and I’m a full-time professional woman in IT at a Fortune 100 company. I’m also an MBA, mother, proud personal finance nerd, avid baker, reader, and artist. I decided to start a site to help professional working moms everywhere take control of their finances, work life, and home.
My qualifications? I’ve been a working mom for 13 years now, always working at big companies. Working while pregnant, having a baby, little kids, elementary school, middle school – I’ve done it all. I’ve also been a personal finance nerd and proud Boglehead for 20 years now-ever since I was 16 and opened my first IRA at my very first job.As I mentioned, I’m an MBA, so I’m familiar with broad business concepts and I have a lot of ideas on how to apply them in your daily life.
Why start this site? Being a working mom and personal finance nerd, as well as an avid reader, I read a lot of blogs and listen to a lot of podcasts on my way to/from work. Over the past few years, I noticed a pattern. The content was mostly written by men, women with no children, or women who work at home with small children. The content that was written by working women was by people way out of my league – think Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook and the like. Where was content from other women like me? Working professional women in the trenches with older children who are coordinating work, home, and finances? So I decided to start this site in hopes of bringing that perspective to the conversation.
I hope you’ll join me in my quest to make you the Chief Mom Officer of your household, and have some fun along the way!
