Today is my 300th post!
I bet you guessed that from the title.
It’s also my birthday next week! We celebrated early because (1) I’ll be on a business trip on the day, and (2) my older boys will also be at Boy Scout camp. If you’re following me on Instagram, you might have seen this in my stories already.
If you’re not following me on Instagram, I post all kinds of money-themed photos every single day. I’d love to connect there! There’s all kinds of nerdy money talk, plus bonus baked goods.
So what better gift to give than something to you, my readers? After all, without you, I’d just be talking to myself.
In celebration, I’ve not only spiffed up parts of my site for you, but I’ve also made it easier than ever to share your story with the world. And I’m running a giveaway of books that changed my financial life. Hopefully they change yours too!
Share Your Money Story With The World!
I’ve been a fan of personal finance blogs since the earliest days, when blogs were chiseled into the internet with blood, sweat, tears, and much coding. Nowadays it’s so much easier to start a website, literally anyone can do it in a few minutes.
Why was I such a big fan?
It was the stories.
I loved following along with the story of the writers of the blogs. Reading their take on money and finance, staying inspired by all the money talk. My favorite money articles on mainstream media sites are always personal stories.
My personal favorites are stories of ordinary, everyday people like me. Sure, reading the story of a famous woman, an executive, or a multi-millionaire business owner is also fun.
But frankly, those stories don’t inspire me in the same way.
Instead, I love the stories of regular people. How do they live their money lives? How have they become wealthy, or successful? What goals are they striving toward, and how are they reaching them? What’s their financial situation?
We learn so much from each other – from the stories of women ahead of us on the financial path, and from being able to cheer on and support those behind us. We also learn much from those in a similar stage of life, and can help one another.
Now I’ve made it easier than ever for you to share your story!
Old Favorites – And New Series
I’m still going to feature Breadwinning, Six Figure, Millionaire Women, and Women on FIRE (women pursuing financial freedom). So if you’re a female breadwinner, six figure earner, or millionaire – or if you’re a woman pursuing financial freedom – you’ll want to hop on over here to fill out my new forms and have a chance to be featured! Or just click on the buttons below.
I’ve also created new forms for two new series I’m excited to be launching…
Debt Freedom Stories
I love debt freedom stories.
I spent almost two solid years listening to the Dave Ramsey podcast every single day, while I was working on getting out of debt. And today I hang out on the Instagram debt free community, because I love to read stories of getting out of debt.
Why? They’re so inspiring to me! Reading (or hearing) stories of people who either are just starting their debt payoff journey, are in the thick of the ups and downs, or have financially reached debt freedom is something I really enjoy. I love helping to encourage others in their debt payoff process, and I want to give all these amazing people a place to share their story with the world.
I’ve already told my story of getting out of debt, and right now I’m working on the long, slow slog to pay off the mortgage (if you missed it, here’s part one and here’s part two). It’s a pretty dull story from here on out, lets be honest. But I know lots of people out there are still working through their debt, and I want to help them.
So if you have a debt freedom story to share, hop on over to the Be Featured page and fill out the form! You’ll get to be a part of inspiring women from all over the world.
You can be totally anonymous too! I just ask for your email so I can get in touch if your story is selected.
Money In Your 30’s
I’m nosy. You’re nosy. Why else would net worth reports and debt payoff numbers be so interesting?
So… let’s embrace the nosiness and share what money’s really like in your 30s.
Why in your 30’s? Because I’ve seen a lot of content with folks sharing money stories from their 20’s, but not your 30’s. Since I’m in my 30’s, I’d love to share stories of people closer to my age – and life stage. I’m a different person at 37 than 27, with different concerns and issues. Now, I love my awesome and amazing friends in their 20’s, I want to share a different perspective!
Go on over to the Be Featured page and share your deepest money details, Income, net worth, debt situation, and ask the readers your most burning money question. Include a way readers can find you – or stay totally anonymous. It’s up to you!
So Why Share Your Story Here?
First of all, CMO readers are some of the most amazing, supportive, and helpful people on the internet. You know this already, since you’re here reading this, so you must be amazing. They will cheer you on as you tell your story, and help with any questions you might have.
Also, maybe you’ve thought about starting your own blog…but it’s just so much WORK. And yes, it is work, you can’t run it in five minutes a month from your bed. But even though you don’t want to start and run a website, you know you have an inspiring story.
Here is where you can share it.
Bonus – I’ll be doing a monthly giveaway for those that submit accepted stories! Stay tuned for the “giveaway” details below for info.
Ask CMO – And Ask The Readers!
Another option on my new Be Featured page is a place for you to ask me – and the readers – your burning work and money questions. Maybe you need help with a personal situation, you’re trying to enroll in company benefits and are confused, you’d like advice on teaching your teenager about money, or you want to get a raise but aren’t sure how.
Well, why not ask the most amazing, supportive, and helpful people on the internet?
Just go over to that Be Featured page and select the option to ask a question (or click on the button below). I’ll select questions to respond to here on the site, and will e-mail you if your question is selected so you can see the responses.
Honestly, I know people might be too shy or intimidated to email me. I know back when I spent years lurking on personal finance blogs, I would never email the blogger. Even if I loved their content, or had a burning question.
Why not? I’m shy! They might email me back! They might not email me back! I might be annoying them!
I thought – maybe you, the person reading this, feels like I did. You might be too shy to email me your questions, or ask to be interviewed. Well now I’ve made it easier than ever – specifically for you.
I’m hoping that this new and improved way to share different money stories with the world – and the easier way to ask a question – will help me be better able to accomplish my mission. What’s that mission?
To help women with money (theirs and their kids), work, and frugal family life to enable financial freedom.
Another way I can help accomplish this goals is more content, in more forms. Here’s a few of my ideas. Can’t wait to hear what you think!
More Blog Content!
There’s so much I want to share with you all. There’s stories of my and my kids money/work life, of course. And all the other stories of amazing women I’ve shared in the past, and I plan to share in the future.
Once I have a good amount of questions and stories, I’ll be looking into publishing those on days I don’t normally publish right now (which would be Tuesdays and Thursdays). When this starts, I’ll be sure to give subscribers the option of a daily email or a weekly post recap instead. I don’t want to clutter your inbox with too many emails!
But there’s also so much other great content! Articles written that I want to share with you, and discuss. News about women at work, discussions online about dealing with money, and more.
I thought about the best way to share these, and decided that I’ll be re-starting the “Weekend Roundup”. Look for that on Saturdays for your weekend reading pleasure! The best of the web on money, work, and financial freedom-right at your fingertips.
Ways To Connect!
You might have seen this on some of my other posts, but I’ve created two Facebook groups where you can hang out with other money-smart women. I like Facebook groups even better than forums because I find it easier to see the latest posts.
There are two groups – I’d love if you join in the discussion.
Surprise! A Podcast?!?!?!
Yes, I’m excited to announce that I’m planning to launch a (to be named!) podcast this fall! Why? Well, I love podcasts, and I have the best ideas for content and format. In fact, I think I have a years worth of ideas already written down!
There are some people who just don’t have the time to sit down and read my lengthy blog posts. Or maybe they don’t read personal finance blogs at all, but they still need help. Perhaps they want to learn more about money on their commute, or when driving the kids around. Or just something to turn on while cleaning the house.
I’d love to be there, helping those women with their money, work, and financial freedom. More details coming soon, as I figure out exactly how to do this! I want to do it right, and do a great job for all of you.
Time for what you really came for – the presents!
Yes, no birthday or 300th post celebration would be complete without presents. But what to give? I want to give away something that my readers would love. Then I thought, what better than the books that changed my financial life?
In case you don’t want to click through, they are –
- The Wealthy Barber – The book I read as a teenager that inspired my money smart ways
- The Tightwad Gazette – Best book on frugality – hands down – I have ever read
- The Millionaire Next Door – Dr. Thomas Stanley shares secrets of ordinary millionaires, and the results are surprising
- Your Money Or Your Life – Financial freedom is within your reach. Find out how.
Those are affiliate links, so if you want to buy the books I would get a small commission at no cost to you. But hopefully you can win them instead!
Fifty dollars worth of life changing books, for you to keep or read and give away! How cool is that.
How to win? Share the link to this post on your social media platform of choice – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. When you share, be sure to tag me and say which article out of the 300 I’ve written is your favorite. That’s it! US and Canada only please. I’m going to ship from Amazon, and I don’t know that it would ship internationally.
And, at least through the end of the year, each month I’ll do a drawing for all the selected interviews and questions I publish on the site. The winner will get not only the satisfaction of knowing they’ve helped others, and the ability to get help themselves, but also a $25 Amazon gift card! This will start in July, so stay tuned.
I’ve had a great time with the first 300 articles, and I’m looking forward to the next 300. I hope you are too!
If you already own the books, I hope you’ll comment with your favorite article out of the 300 on this site. Or just wish me a happy birthday!
Be sure to follow my blog for more great posts via e-mail or WordPress, or connect with me on Facebook or Twitter and say hello! You can also check out what I’m buying or baking on Instagram, what I’m pinning on Pinterest, or the latest books I’m reading (or want to read) over on Goodreads.
