2017 PLUTUS Award Nominations!

Hi all! I have such exciting news to share, I haven’t been able to get off of cloud 9 all day.

Cloud 9
I’m quite literally here right now!

I’m a finalist for a PLUTUS award!

What are the PLUTUS awards, you might ask? They’re an award given out at Fin Con, the personal finance media conference, for the best in personal finance media in a variety of different categories. You’ll notice that this site has a shiny new badge to commemorate this honor! Frankly it’s amazing to even become a finalist, because the nominations come from the general public (aka you) and then are selected by a panel of experts. In their own words:

The annual Plutus Awards celebrate the best in financial media. This year marks the eighth annual event, and the ceremony will be presented live at the FinCon Expo in Dallas, Texas, on October 28. The Plutus Awards were founded by Harlan Landes and are supported by the Plutus Foundation. You can find out more at plutusawards.com and plutusfoundation.org.

I’ve been nominated in the Family Finance category, presented by FamZoo (which I’d recommend checking out if you’re interested in a new way to teach your kids about money). The other nominees in this category are all awesome as well  – Catherine Alford |  Couple Money | Mama Fish Saves | Montana Money Adventures  – good luck to everyone!

But Wait – There’s More!

Not only has this site been nominated for the PLUTUS award, but one of my favorite podcasts-Stacking Benjamins-not only had on Harlan Landas and Miranda Marquit on to announce the nominees, but they also had an awesome roundtable today. It was featuring Kara Perez from BravelyGo.co, Eric Rosenberg of Personal Profitability , and Robert Farrington from The College Investor blog to comment on the nominees. And when they got to Family Finance, they were all saying such nice things about my site, I was litereally blushing. And two of the four folks in the roundtable picked me as their favorite to win! Have to say that I already feel like a winner with all these kind remarks.

People’s Choice?

There’s another category you can win, but only if people nominate you – the Peoples Choice award. If you click here you can vote for me!

Thank You!

This post isn’t all about me – it’s actually all about you. There are people out there who voted for me to make this possible, and other people who picked this site out of everyone who was nominated. There’s certainly no lack of other blogs out there, and I really am honored that folks think enough of my writing to nominate me and select me as a finalist. There are honestly times when writing doesn’t come naturally to me, and it’s everyone who reads and comments that keeps me doing this. So a huge THANK YOU to all of you out there (you know who you are) that voted, or just read, commented, or chatted on Twitter. You’re why we all are out here writing when we could be eating ice cream or watching TV instead.

PLUTUS Plug For My Friends

The PLUTUS awards are where I’ve found some of my newest and most favorite sites, I’d highly recommend you check out all the nominees if you’re looking for something new and fun to read! Also, a huge number of folks that I consider my blogging friends were also finalists for various awards, and I couldn’t be happier for them! Congratulations everyone. Be sure to swing by that nominee list to check out the best in personal finance writing and media.

I know today’s post is short, but I’m so excited I just had to write. Have an awesome Friday and I’ll be back next week!
